Deputy Collector Asma issues notice to suspect involved in smuggling of Iranian diesel

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to owner of non duty paid Iranian diesel. These Iranian diesel was brought into country through unauthorized route.

Sources told Customs Today that Mianwali Anti Smuggling Organization intercepted a vehicle near M.M Alam Raod and recovers huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel oil. The team asked the owner of the vehicle who was identified as Zahir Shah  to show documents regarding legal import of the Iranian diesel oil  but he could not produce any legal documents regarding possession of the above said items.

Therefore, the officials impounded the diesel under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Deputy Collector Asma issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156(1)89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and served him a show cause notice as to why the seized item should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law besides penal action as warranted in law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
