FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to owners of non duty paid cloth and Q- Mobiles which were brought into the country through unauthorized routes.
Sources told Customs Today that Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a vehicle near Sheikhpura Raod , Faisalabad and recovered smuggled large amount of cloth and Q-Mobiles . The team asked the owners /drivers of the vehicle who was identified as Mohammad Waqas and second persons named as Mohammad Tanveer to show documents regarding legal import of the cloth weighting about 1320 kilograms and Q- Mobiles about 671 sets .
Sources said that the owners failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of the above said items. Therefore, the officials impounded the goods under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now, deputy Collector Asma issued notices to the accused persons on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156(1)89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and served him a show cause notice as to why the seized item should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law besides penal action as warranted in law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
