Deputy Collector Asma serves notice in vehicle smuggling case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued show cause notice to accused person allegedly involved in smuggling case of Toyota Passo car.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence following credible information established check post near MM Road, Distrct Mianwali. The officials signalled to stop a vehicle, Toyota Passo bearing Registration No. 2650 – Lahore, but the driver did not stop the vehicle and tried to escape.

The customs officials chased the vehicle and after some distance they found the vehicle parked aside the road in darkness, while the driver fled from the scene taking advantage of the darkness. The officials impounded the vehicle and sent the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to an unknown accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. However, the adjudication has directed the suspect to file his reply by given time, which is also last date of hearing.

The deputy collector also directed the customs officials to appear before the authority along with relevant record in the case.
