Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issues notice to suspect involved in smuggling of tyres, tubes

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect allegedly involved in smuggling of tyres and tubes worth Rs 325,000 involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 87,750.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Jhang, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no. DN-8939 which was coming from Peshawar. During the checking, the customs team recovered foreign origin tyres and tubes of different brands.

The Customs superintendent asked the driver to produce documents regarding possession and transportation of these goods but he failed to produce any relevant documents. After his failure, the customs official forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further action.

Now Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued show cause notice to accused Muhammad Saleem son of Muhammad Amin due to violation of customs act.
