KARACHI: The Directorate General Customs Valuation is working to establish a database for Customs Valuation and it would soon be on WeBOC.
In this regard, Second Secretary FBR (Valuation and Audit) Tahir Habib Cheema has forwarded a letter to Collector of Customs Appraisement West, East, Preventive, Port Qasim and Export asking for compliance.
“I am directed to enclose letter No. DG (Valuation) Database/Ref Val/2016/8991 dated 23.7.2016 received from Directorate General of Customs Valuation, Karachi on the subject cited above for information and compliance,” Cheema said.
“This Directorate General has initiated an exercise to develop database values for different items wherein it has been observed that declarations are wide range and do not correctly reflect values of the items as traded in international market. During the scrutiny of previous clearance data, following items were identified where watchful intervention at senior level was required”, the letter says.
During this exercise on individual items, this Directorate General has adequately sensitized the clearance Collectorates through a number of reference and letter were sent individually on the following items.
Rubber eraser, broom stick ekels, broom stick flower, cotton waste in bales, cotton waste hosiery, children umbrellas, fiber/plastic umbrellas, umbrella with folding frame/other metal frame, Umbrella in shape of walking stick, scarves, nylon rope, non alloy steel strips, whole egg powder, egg powder yolk, egg powder albumin, adult/patient diapers (high value brands of adults/patients diapers : e.q. huggies, excluding pampers brands, Adults/patient diapers (low end brands of adults/patient diapers.
These values, as advised by this Directorate General are for reference/guidance only and final assessment is to be made after considering other factors which have bearing on the customs values.
“These values shall be available on WeBOC system soon (development complete) on the pattern of valuation rulings. Till such time clearance formations may be instructed to go through the valuation database letters for application before finalizing the assessment of the items as enumerated therein”, the letter concluded.
