DG Imtiaz Ahmad for stern action against importers involved in under invoicing, mis-declaration

KARACHI: Directorate General of Custom Intelligence and Investigation has started preparing a document regarding the importers involved in under invoicing and mis-declaration.

According to the source, the Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) Imtiaz Ahmad has directed the officers of the Directorate General of Custom Intelligence and Investigation to step up scrutiny of the imported items even after the complete examination by the Customs officers.

The source also informed that the Director General Imtiaz Ahmad has also asked the officers to complete a paperwork and prepare a document listing the names of the importers involved in the crime of under invoicing and mis-declaration.

The prepared document will be sent to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters action against those importers involved in under invoicing and mis-declaration, the source maintained.

The Directorate General of Custom Intelligence and Investigation will be asking the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that in order to save the national exchequer the strict action against the culprits is necessary, to restrict the importers involved in the crimes like under invoicing and mis- declaration penalty as well as imprisonment is necessary.

The document prepared by the Directorate General of Custom Intelligence and Investigation will be sent to the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Nisar Muhammad for the approval. On the directives of the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Nisar Muhammad the fate of the proposal will be decided.
