DG Intelligence seizes joint accessories of bridges & top anchor plates worth Rs 21.4m

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigations, Federal Board of Revenue, has seized joint accessories of bridges and top anchor plates of Italian origin and 120 pieces of armor ballistic plates at West and East Wharf, Karachi, worth Rs 21.4 million.

According to the details Customs Enforcement, Karachi, has seized two consignments after the same were cleared by Customs Appraisement East and West.

The importers of these consignments, M/s SMA Engineering and Services Lahore and M/s Pak Armoring (Private) Limited Karachi, had attempted to clear the consignments on the basis of fake commercial invoices, but they failed. On a tip-off, the customs intelligence staff checked the consignments and found fake invoices.

The original Letter of Credit (LC) and commercial invoices were retrieved from the relevant banks. The value of seized consignments is Rs. 21.4 million and evaded taxes and duties amount Rs 9.7 million.
