ISLAMABAD: Directorate-General Training and Research (DGTR) Director Iram M Aamir said that the Directorate conducted one week workshop on financial crime and money laundering to improve coordination between Law Enforcement Agencies.
Talking with Customs Today, the Director said that in collaboration with City of London Police, funded by the UK Government, the DGTR organized a “One-Week Training Session on Financial National Curriculum Course (03rd Module) on Financial Crime Intelligence, Investigation And Asset Recovery” for the officers BS-17 to BS-20 of PCS (Pakistan Customs Service), IRS (Inland Revenue Service), NAB (National Accountability Bureau) as well as FMU (Financial Monitoring Unit) and sixteen senior/middle level officers from all over Pakistan.
She said that Graeme Millar and Shaun Mc Leary Training Consultant from United Kingdom conducted one-week training sessions and both the guest speakers shared their knowledge and expertise with the participants of the course at the premises of Directorate of Training & Research (Customs), Islamabad.
Iram said that on the opening day she herself welcomed the Guest Speakers and the participants who participated from different cities of Pakistan and highlighted the importance of the subject and acquisition of skilled training. It was apprised that the project is to develop in-house pool of expertise for future trainings through institutional strengthening and improved coordination between Law Enforcement Agencies on Financial Crime and Money Laundering in Pakistan. The trained officers will be equipped for dealing with Financial Crimes and the challenges and risks involved in combating it.
She further told that in the feedback the participants praised the aforementioned course and efforts taken by the DOT and its officers and officials to conduct a successful course. She added that at the end of training session certificates were awarded among all participants while gifts and shields were presented to the guest speakers.
