DGTR holds workshop on Trade Facilitation Agreement

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Training and Research (DGTR) organised a training workshop on Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) at International Hall No 2 at Customs House, Karachi.

Dr Manzoor Ahmed, former member (customs), who represented Pakistan in Brussels/WTO, spoke at the workshop.

Dr Ahmed said that the TFA contained provisions for expediting the movement, release and clearance of goods, including goods in transit.

He added that it also ensured cooperation between customs and other appropriate authorities on trade facilitation and customs compliance issues. The former member customs said that it contained technical assistance and capacity building.

The office-bearers and members of Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) also attended the workshop.

The KCAA office-bearers declared the workshop fruitful and beneficial for the customs agents and trade.

Meanwhile, Dr Ahmed visited the newly inaugurated KCAA Library at Camp Office, Customs House along with other customs officials and praised the efforts of KCAA to establish the library.

On the occasion, KCAA President Qamar Alam and General Secretary Khurram Ijaz thanked the ex-member customs for his visit and assured him of their best efforts for the betterment of customs agents and trade.
