Different kinds of electronic items impounded by Customs Collectorate Gwadar

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Gwadar has taken into possession different types of electronic goods including Juicer machines, refrigerator compressors and kitchen accessories worth more than Rs8.25million on Tuesday.

Sources told Customs Today that, on the directives of Deputy Collector Gwadar Junaid Mehmood, an operation against the smuggling items and non-duty-paid luxury vehicles is going on in full swing and several raids have been conducted during previous month of December and the operation against smuggling items is still going on during the current month of January.

Sources told CT that, on Tuesday morning, Deputy Collector Gwadar constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Junaid-ur-Rehman and others. The team, during a search operation on Gwadar Highway, intercepted a truck bearing registration No: QMS-754 which was going out of the city.

During the raids, the customs team impounded 50 pieces of Non-Duty-Paid Italian Juicer machines, 100 pieces of refrigerator compressors and kitchen accessories including ovans worth Rs8.25 million. The customs team arrested three smugglers involved in smuggling and registered an FIR against them and started investigations. They were identified as Alam Chuhan, Imran Elahi and Saleem Aiwan. The customs team also impounded a truck which was being used in Smuggling.

It is necessary to mention here that before eight days Customs Collectorate Gwadar impounded a large quantity of smuggled items which included Iranian diesel, Indian silk, Iranian brake oil, computer accessories, electronic items, imported watches, fine quality of hashish, cameras, chassis, tyres and other different non-duty-paid goods worth Rs28.35million.
