Director Asif Marghoob Siddiqui tells staff to expedite anti-smuggling operations in border areas

KARACHI: Asif Marghoob Siddiqui, the director of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Karachi Region, has directed the officials concerned to expedite the anti-smuggling operations on the border areas.

According to details, Siddiqui, in a meeting held at his office the other day, expressed his satisfaction over the recent seizure of smuggled consignment of ‘plastic dana near Sukkur. He stressed the need for carrying out the same performance in future.

Siddiqui further said that the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, through its effective strategy and actions against the smuggling activities, has already saved billions of rupees national exchequer, which was being leaked through mis-declaration and under-invoicing.

The Director Customs Intelligence Karachi Region-Asif Marghoob Siddiqui has further said that the Director General of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence Imtiaz Ahmed Khan has issued clear directives in connection with using all available resources against curbing smuggling activities across the country and particularly to and from the Karachi borders.

Siddiqui further said that the Federal Board of Revenue-FBR would soon provide some latest and contemporary equipments to the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence for uprooting the smuggling activities.

The Director Customs Intelligence Asif Marghoob Siddiqui further asked the officers of the Directorate to utilize their all available powers in order to save the national exchequer.
