RTO-II decides to freeze bank accounts of 3,700 tax defaulters

LAHORE: The Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to freeze the bank accounts of 3,700 sales tax defaulters.

Sources said that RTO-II Chief Commissioner Khawaja Adnan Zaheer held a meeting with additional commissioners, deputy commissioners and senior officers and discussed the matter of tax evasion, besides figuring out the plan to recover these taxes from the defaulters.

Initially, the officials have made a list of 9,313 tax defaulters who are not paying taxes since long or paying minor income despite having taxable income.

The chief commissioner has also formed eight teams to recover the tax and ordered him to meet the revenue collection target by the end of running fiscal year 2015-16. The chief also said that bank accounts of the tax defaulter to be attached and recovered outstanding amounts.
