FIA director takes stern notice of pending cases against human traffickers in Gujranwala division

SIALKOT: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Punjab Director Dr Usman has expressed grave concern and dismay over the prolonged pendency of applications submitted by victims against the hostilities of human traffickers in Gujranwala Division’s all the six districts – Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala – due to alleged slackness and poor performance of the FIA officials concerned.

The FIA Punjab director was told that hundreds of applications had been lying pending and unattended at the FIA Gujranwala office for the last several years , due to which the applicants and the victims had been suffering from great ordeal in getting justice against the influential human traffickers.
The director has taken very serious notice of this prolonged pendency and failure of the FIA officials concerned in entertaining these applications, and advised them to jazz up the speed of probe against human trafficker-turned- proclaimed offenders (POs) to ensure early dispense of justice to the applicants in this regard.

In January 2015, the FIA Gujranwala had sent as many as 2,000 pending applications to the FIA Lahore director for seeking legal opinion on these applications.
According to senior FIA officials, these applications had been submitted before the FIA for registration of separate cases against notorious human traffickers several years ago. These applications had been lying unattended at the FIA Gujranwala offices, due to which cases have not been registered against human traffickers who have plundered millions of rupees from hundreds of the innocent people by showing them the dream of bright future abroad.

It was learnt that notorious human traffickers were still at large. as no legal action had been against them.
The FIA officials concerned had kept the said 2,000 applications with them for several years, which had been submitted before the FIA by the affected people, who sought help of the FIA against human traffickers running the business of sending people abroad illegally.
