Drakshan Customs seizes Indian origin gutka, vehicle worth Rs10m

QUETTA: The Customs staff of Drakhsan Customs Station Quetta seized Indian origin ‘panprag’ along with offending vehicle worth Rs10 million.

According to details told by Iftakhar Ahmad Collector MCC (Model Customs Collectorate Preventive) Quetta, pursuing a secret information shared by sources that a group of smugglers will attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Indian origin smuggled goods via Drakshan Border Customs station to Quetta. This information was forwarded to Jamil Baloch Additional Collector ASO (Anti Smuggling Organistion) who formed a squad comprising Assistant Collector Saleem Tahir, Superintendents Younas Atta and inspector Shahzad who made ‘nakabandi’ at Drakshan Customs station.

The Customs staff stopped an Isuzu Mazda which was loaded with the tomatoes but on suspicion the staff asked the possessors for through search. When customs staff checked the truck they found 5000 packs of Indian origin gutka panprag, the staff seized the smuggled goods along with vehicle and brought it to Customs House Quetta.

The value of seized vehicle and 5 thousands of panprag gutka was estimated to be RS 10 million. A case has been registered while further investigation is underway.

It was told that Chief Collector Balochistan Dr. Zulfiqar and Collector Iftikhar Ahmad made appreciation calls to the Customs staff and officials who made successful seizures of Indian origin gutka.
