Al-Jamal applauded Dubai Customs’ experience in developing Customs work.

“It’s very important for us to enhance co-operation with Dubai Customs. We are sure we will benefit a lot from Dubai Customs and will exchange expertise, especially in matters related to Dubai Customs’ Mirsal2 and the Nadeeb system that we apply in Qatar,” he said.

Musabih reaffirmed the importance of the brotherly relations between Dubai Customs and Qatar’s General Authority of Customs, and efforts of the two parties to enhance co-operation between the GCC Customs authorities.

“Co-operation between the GCC authorities is gaining more importance with the advent of great events in the region such as the hosting of Dubai Expo 2020 and FIFA 2022 World Cup,” he said.

“This is a good opportunity for us all to enhance our mutual efforts and exchange knowledge and expertise in Customs service delivery, especially with the increase of Dubai’s external trade with Qatar, which reached AED15bn in 2016,” Musabih added.

Further, the Dubai Customs director said that they were “happy to share experience with our brothers in the Gulf and learn from their experience as well through the exchange of visits”.

The meeting was attended by a host of other officials as well.

Abdullah Mohamed al-Khaja, executive director of the Clients Management Division at Dubai Customs, said that working together with Qatar’s GAC would help in the exchange of best practices in terms of delivery of services to clients.

DC World chief executive Faisal Eissa Lutfi said: “We at Dubai Customs World support Customs business worldwide by sharing the Dubai Customs innovative experience with other Customs administrations worldwide.”
