He said that this center is expected to become operational during next week and office bearers of FCCI would also be invited to attend it.

Commenting on the safe city project, he said that it will connect entire Faisalabad city by way of high-grade surveillance cameras with facial recognition software. “The cameras will be connected via 4G technology”, he said and added that these would allow transmitting of CCTV footage to the main control room. The cameras privately installed in various factories would also be linked with the central control room of the Faisalabad Police, he added.

Responding to a question asked by Mr. Shabbir Husssain Chawla President FCCI about the performance of recently launched “Dolphin Force”, he told that it has ensured visible patrolling of police that would help in controlling street crimes. He said that the performance of Dolphin Force will also be evaluated to further improve its performance,

He said that initially 200 trained “Jawans” with 100 motor bikes of 250CC are patrolling on the city roads. Another 1200 Jawans are also getting training at Punjab level, out of which a sizable number of Jawans would also be allocated to Faisalabad.

Rana Masoom who is also holding the charge of CPO and CTO told that efforts have been expedited to streamline the traffic system in the city.

He told that wardens with 250CC bikes have been directed to regularly petrol on different areas. However, he termed encroachment as one of the major problem to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on city roads.

He said that almost all traffic signals are faulty. “I shall try my best to repair these signals in addition to adding new ones at important crossings or junctions”, he added.

He told the numbers of traffic staff would also be increased as a summery to appoint 100 additional staff has already been approved but it will take at least 6 to 7 months to place them on the roads after completing the required training.

He said that two additional layers including junior traffic wardens and traffic constables would also be added to improve the overall traffic system in the city.
