DUBLIN: Ireland authorities have seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €30,000, pending analysis. A substantial amount of cash was also confiscated.
Two men, aged 33 and 27 years, have been arrested and are being detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The seizure and arrests were made following a number of planned searches the South City Centre of Dublin, over the last two days from January 6 to 8.
The seizure and arrests were part of an ongoing operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs.
A Garda statement said the force’s anti-crime operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to “disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks”, and also that “drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality”.
