Easypaisa transforms into Digital Retail Bank

KARACHI: The popular branchless banking provider Easypaisa has announced a significant transformation in the banking domain.

Telenor Microfinance Bank has officially transitioned into a digital retail bank under the new name “Easypaisa Bank Limited.” It will be effective from January 28, 2025, and marks a milestone in the evolution of the company, which will now operate under the Banking Companies Ordinance (BCO),1962.

This change positions Easypaisa to expand its digital banking capabilities and will offer an enhanced suite of financial services. These include digital accounts, consumer lending solutions, and term deposits. Easypaisa is also working on introducing additional products to further strengthen its digital banking ecosystem.

The transition does not change the company’s existing user base. Instead, it emphasizes its focus on regulatory compliance, financial inclusion, and innovation. Easypaisa’s digital platforms, led by the popular Easypaisa app, will continue to be supported by its extensive agent network, smart branches, sales and service centers, and ATMs.

In addition to these services, customers will benefit from 24/7 accessibility through its help center and USSD channels, ensuring uninterrupted financial transactions. Easypaisa’s robust technological infrastructure and partnerships will enhance its ability to cater to the growing needs of customers in Pakistan.

For current customers, the transition is expected to be smooth, with no disruptions in existing services. Moreover, they can look forward to a wider range of financial products and improved service delivery.
