ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved three new export finance subsidy schemes aimed at boosting Pakistan’s exports, improving access to affordable financing, and increasing support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved an enhanced EXIM-administered Export Finance Scheme (E-EFS), a new Long-Term Export Growth Financing Facility (LTEGFF), and a performance-based rebate for exporters achieving incremental export growth.

According to the Finance Division, the package is designed to provide exporters with fixed low-rate financing while strengthening financial support for both export- and import-related activities.

The government said the initiative places particular emphasis on improving access to affordable credit for SMEs, enabling smaller businesses to expand production, enhance competitiveness, and increase their participation in international markets.

The ECC also directed the relevant authorities to conduct a performance review of the schemes after six months to assess their effectiveness and ensure the financing facilities are achieving their intended objectives.

The newly approved measures form part of the government’s broader strategy to promote exports, strengthen industrial growth, and improve Pakistan’s trade performance through targeted financial support.
