On the request of Pakistan Muslim League’s Rao Muhammad Ajmal Khan, the committee unanimously recommended to impose 100 percent duty on import of milk powder.
Khan informed the committee, which was chaired by Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, that urea, hair remover powder, glycerin and other chemicals injurious to health were being mixed with milk to increase its thickness.
He claimed that Pakistanis were drinking white poison in the form of packed milk and the government should impose a ban on the import of milk powder or impose 100 percent duty on it import to protect the livestock sector in the country.
