Additional Collector Multan Customs Enforcement Shah Faisal Sahu has directed all employees and staff who were attending trainings of Election Commission to join their responsibilities as Customs has already shortage of staff and performed their placement duties.

In an unprecedented move, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has exempted all employees of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from election duties for the upcoming general elections including Customs . This decision, a response to a formal request from the FBR, is a reflection of the ECP’s recognition of the critical role of the FBR’s work, and the need for its employees to stay focused on their duties during the election period.

The decision to exempt FBR employees from election duties is one of considerable significance. It highlights a collaborative approach between government institutions, aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections. More importantly, it underscores the ECP’s acknowledgement of the FBR’s crucial role in the country’s tax collection system, a function that cannot afford disruptions, not even for the sake of conducting elections.

The exemption is likely to have a positive impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the FBR’s operations during the election period. With their focus undivided, FBR employees can continue their regular work, ensuring the proper functioning of the tax collection system, a cornerstone of the economy.
