Enforcement-South attains Rs 25.593 billion customs duty target for FY 2014-15

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorates Preventive, Hyderabad, Exports, Quetta, Gwadar of Enforcement-South Region and Export (Port Muhammad Bin Qasim) have attained 99 percent of the set target of Rs 25.593 billion under the head of customs duty in the fiscal year 2014-15, it is learnt.

According to details available with Customs Today, the MCC-Preventive collected Rs 18.686 billion in terms of customs duty against the target of Rs 17.180 billion which is 109 percent increase in the revenue collection. The collection in the FY 2013-14 stood at Rs 13.618 billion.

 The MCC-Hyderabad collected an amount of Rs 2.601 billion customs duty against its set target of Rs 5.491 billion which is just 47 percent collection.

 The MCC-Export collected Rs 4.746 billion against the set target of Rs 5.464 billion which is 87 percent of the target.

 The Exports (Port Muhammad Bin Qasim) contributed 92 percent i.e. Rs 3.791 billion against its set target of Rs 4.124 billion.

 Moreover, the MCC-Quetta collected Rs 1.402 billion against the target of Rs 979.70 million i.e. 143 percent increase in the collection.

 The MCC-Gwadar collected an amount of Rs 1654.94 million against its set target of Rs 601.93 million which is 275 percent increase in the revenue collection.

 The insiders told Customs Today that the revenue collection had been achieved because of untiring efforts of Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Muhammad Nazim Saleem who encouraged the officials at every stage.

 In June 2015, the sources said, at least Rs 5.466 billion customs duty were collected with MCC-Preventive Rs 3.521 billion; MCC-Hyderabad Rs 437.74 million; MCC-Exports Rs 572.31 million; MCC-Quetta 448.26 million; MCC-Gwadar Rs 422.08 million and MCC-Export Port Muhammad Bin Qasim Rs 64.59 million.
