BRUSSELS: EU polyethylene imports in the first six months of the year fell 7.8% year on year to 1.14 million mt, Eurostat data released Monday showed.
Over the same period, exports fell 3.7% to 992,424 mt due to tightness in low density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene supplies in Europe.
Following a revision of the Generalized Scheme of Preferences, EU customs tariffs in January 2014 for polyethylene and polypropylene were revised up to 6.5% from 3% for imports from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, such as Saudi Arabia.
