Most of the impounded vehicle owners had defaulted on payment of life-time token tax while others did not have proper registration documents.  The general hold up operation is still continued in order to chase the tax collection target from Excise and Taxation Department Multan.

According to an Excise and Taxation department spokesperson, five teams conducted a crackdown against defaulters in Mumtazabad, Basti Malok, Chowk Kumharawala, Shujabad and Jalalpur areas. Over 600 vehicles and motorcycles were checked during the operation and several were fined.

During the operation vehicles running on the city’s roads with cancelled registration numbers are also being impounded.
