LAHORE: All Excise and Taxation offices across Punjab will remain open until 8pm today, the last day of the current fiscal year.
On the other hand, a large number of people are approaching the excise offices because the government of Punjab has announced waiving fine on token tax until June 30. Today is the last day for citizens to pay their tax without any extra charges.
After the announcement of waiving the penalties on taxes, a large number of defaulters started visiting the excise office. Most of them are one-time token tax defaulters on vehicles below 1000cc. The increased number of citizens in excise offices has raised the revenue of the department, and only in Lahore, millions of rupees have been collected during the week.
