Excise seals 149 properties over tax evasion in Lahore

LAHORE: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has sealed 149 properties in different regions of Lahore.

According to Excise and Taxation Additional Director General Masoodul Haq, all regions have formed special teams to trace out property tax defaulters. He added that crackdown on tax evaders will not be stopped until the recovery of all evaded taxes. He said that the department had sealed hundred of properties in March 2015.

On Tuesday, during a crackdown, excise sealed 149 tax defaulter properties. The teams sealed the properties in different areas of the city including Bahria Town, Faisal Town, Ferozepur Road, Raiwind Road, Brandreth Road, Shah Alam, Badami Bagh, Lytton Road, Davis Road and Circular Road.

On the other hand, some tax defaulters paid the due tax on the spot on which the excise officials unsealed the properties.

The action will continue against defaulters as Excise Secretary Ali Tahir has directed all directors to meet the set targets on time.
