Excise seizes documents of 109 defaulter vehicles in snap checking

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department has started crackdown against token tax defaulters and unregistered vehicles in the different areas of the city and also impounded 18 vehicles.

According to Excise and Taxation officials of Lahore Motor Branch, special teams have been formed for the recovery of token tax from defaulters. These teams, which were formed on special directions of Director General Excise Akram Ashraf Gondal, and are working under the supervision of different inspectors, checked documents of hundreds of vehicles in the city and seized documents of 109 vehicles.

Check points were established in Model Town, Thokdar Niaz Baig, Ghazi Road and Multan Road on Thursday.

While on the other hand Excise district police Kasur also seized a dumper truck on fake number plate.

Excise and Taxation Officer Kasur Malik Aslam told Customs Today that Kasur region impounded more than 100 unregistered and 185 token tax defaulter vehicles during current month of 2015.

Director General Excise and Taxation Punjab Akram Ashraf Gondal has directed field staff to keep an eye on defaulters and guide them about new token tax system and stickers for their vehicles.
