Excise seizes documents of 200 vehicles in crackdown as owners failed to pay token tax

LAHORE: The motor branch of the Excise and Taxation Department has seized documents of 200 vehicles during road checking last week from Monday to Saturday.

Sources told Customs Today that the Excise Department has started special crackdown against token tax defaulters since the start of the new year and special teams are working in this regard.

Motor Branch Director Suhail Arshad has formed 10 special teams for the recovery of token tax from defaulters.

According to the Excise officials, these teams were working in different areas of the city to take action against defaulters. This crackdown is stated under the special  instructions of Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal.

These excise teams have started establishing checkpoints in different areas of the city. Excise teams established checkpoints in different areas of the city including Shahdara, Jail Road, Thokar Niaz Baig, Barki Road and Ferozepur Road to aware people to clear their token tax as soon as possible.

Excise Motor Branch Director Suhail Arshad directed field staff to keep keen eye on defaulters and guide them about new token tax system and stickers for their vehicles. Excise action against defaulters is likely to continue in coming days.
