Punjab Excise Dept seizes documents of 450 vehicles in one week for non-payment of token tax

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department is taking strict actions against people who have not paid token tax in Lahore and seized documents of hundreds of vehicles.

Excise Motor Branch Director Suhail Arshad is very vigilant in Lahore region for registration of new vehicles and collection of token tax and to increase revenue. The Excise and Taxation Department has formed special teams to keep check on vehicles whose owners have failed to pay their token tax, especially unregistered vehicles.

According to Suhail Arshad, he is personally supervising the campaign against such vehicles. During one week, the Excise Motor Branch Lahore has seized documents of 450 vehicles, mostly for non-payment of token tax. A number of people after seizure of their vehicles documents and national identity cards paid their taxes and got their documents back.

Teams of Excise Motor Branch Lahore have established special checkpoints on different roads. Excise seizes documents during checking of vehicles on Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Model Town, Multan Road, Raiwand Road, Ravi Road, Faisal Town and Shahdara toll plaza.

The campaign against defaulter vehicles is likely to continue in the coming weeks as the Motor Branch is facing a heavy shortfall in tax collection.
