LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department seized drugs worth Rs 320 from Lahore and nearby areas during the first six months (July-December) of the fiscal year 2015-16.
Officials said that the Excise Narcotics Cell has completed its report of the first six months, which has been submitted to Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal by Director Rizwan Sherwani.
According to the report, the excise teams under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer Lateef Anjum took various actions against the sellers and manufacturers of fake alcohol and other drug peddlers and arrested 72 suspects.
The officials said that the DG has appreciated the work of officers and other staff, besides directing them to expedite the operation against drug mafia.
