Export Collectorate attaches property of Gravure Packaging for Rs 3.6m recovery

KARACHI: The Special Recovery Cell of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Export, while following the directives of Collector-MCC Exports Manzoor Hussain Memon, has attached the immovable property of Gravure Packaging (Pvt) Limited for recovery of Rs 3.68 million.

The property which attached is a factory which consisted of 2.47 acres of land on Mauripur Road in SITE area.

According to details, Collector Manzoor Memon asked the authorities concerned to attach the property of the defaulters against the outstanding dues.

Following the directives, Assistant Collector Sanam Qureshi formed a team and appointed Sardar Amin Farooqui as attachment officer in terms of Customs Rules 2001.

Subsequently, the Special Recovery Cell sent notices under Section 202 of the Customs Act 1969 read with Chapter-XI of the Customs Rules, 2001 notified vide SRO450(I)/2001 to Gravure Packaging (Pvt) Limited MD  Jahangir Rahman, but to no avail.

Later, Attachment Officer Sardar Amin Farooqui seized the factory owed by the importer in terms of temporary import of three consignments of miscellaneous packaging materials i.e. cellulose packing film for printing and packing in Bond vide IGM No2508/92 (duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1914005, IGM No1108/93 (duty/taxes amounting Rs 1593710 and coated paper board vide IGM No 879/93 (duty/taxes amounting to Rs 175520  in the year1992-93 which makes the total of Rs 3683234 along with the surcharge.

Those imports were made under Manufacturing Bond SRO No 722(I)/89 and duty/taxes were exempted in lieu of Indemnity Bond and Post Dated Cheques (PDC) in each of three consignments.

Enforcement-South Chief Collector Nazim Saleem lauded the efforts for recovery of the outstanding dues.
