Exports’ Recovery Cell issues notice to A H International for payment of Rs9.6m

KARACHI: The Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of Model Customs Collectorate MCC Exports in its continued recovery campaign in recent days has issued yet another recovery notice against A H International.

According to details, the Assistant Collector of Special Recovery Cell Exports Dr Jam Muhammad Imran on the directives of Collector MCC Exports Manzoor Memon has issued recovery notice against A H International in order to recover government dues amounting to Rs9.6million approximately against the defaulter.

In the notice, it was stated by the authorities concerned that an amount of government dues amounting to Rs9607070 has been stand established against the importer A H International in the recovery proceedings under Section 202 (3) (A) of the Customs Act, 1969 read with the Recovery Rules, 2001.

The notice further stated that the authorities concerned of MCC Exports have finally directed to pay the aforesaid defaulting amount within seven days from the receipt of this notice positively to avoid further proceedings against the importer.

In this regard, the authorities concerned of MCC Exports have already written a letter to the Division Head of Muslim Commercial Bank Limited in order to acquire the bank details of the proprietor of A H International for attaching his bank account for the sake of recovering the government dues.

It has been confirmed vide letter number CCK/Customs/2014/1109 that Rs1879.50, Rs4002 and Rs1379.50 are laying in the above mentioned account numbers to the defaulter and the aforesaid amount has already been attached.

In order to recover the government dues, the authorities concerned of the MCC Export have stated that in exercise of power conferred under Section 48 (I) (f) of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs have authority for transferring of the aforesaid amounts to the Collector MCC Exports in shape of pay order forthwith so that the same may be deposited in the government treasury.

The sources informed Customs Today that the FBR authorities concerned are determined to continue the crackdown against the defaulters in order to recover the evaded revenue and the issuance of more recovery notices by the authorities concerned of MCC-Exports against the defaulters is likely in upcoming days.
