Faisalabad Adjudication declares vehicle’s confiscation outright

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector declared the confiscation of Hino Ranger Truck as lawful and issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab.

As per details, the Khushab FIU intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. SBA-336 and asked Manzoor Ahmad to produce documents showing legal import of the vehicle but he could not do the same.

Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and approached the Excise and Taxation to verify its registration. The excise after verifying the record informed the customs that the said vehicle is registered on bogus documents.

Later, Investigation officer Muhammad Ilyas appeared on behalf of the department and reiterated that the vehicle is smuggled. On the other hand, owner of the vehicle stated that he did not know that vehicle was smuggled.

After hearing the arguments, Additional Collector Saima Aftab declared the confiscation of the vehicle outright under Section 156 (I) 89 (i) of the Customs Act, 1969.
