Faisalabad Adjudication puts off 52 smuggling cases hearing

FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication adjourned the hearing of 52 seizure cases worth Rs306.173million during the month of June 2017.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Adjudication Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig has adjourned hearing of 12 cases valued Rs228.905million pertaining to the seizures of various items.

These items include different brands of vehicles, Land Cruiser, Vitz car, ladies fabrics, children shoes, televisions, mobile phones and remotes. The cases were registered by customs authorities. The collector directed the owners of seized goods and their counsel to present their arguments in the next hearing.

Furthermore, Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad also postponed the hearing of 11 cases worth Rs27.169million while Deputy Collector Asma Hameed adjourned 29 cases involving Rs 50.099 million.

Most of the adjourned seizure cases were detected and registered by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation whereas few cases were lodged by the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad, Mianwali, Jhang, Sara-e-Muhajir and Jhang city.
