Faisalabad AFU seizes 196 smuggled mobile phones, accessories

FAISALABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit ( AFU ), has seized more than 196 pieces of smuggled foreign origin mobile phones and accessories at Faisalabad International Airport during checking process of Dubai flight no. FZ-343. These mobile phone were being transported from Dubai via above side flight to Faisalabad.

Sources told Customs Today that AFU team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Airport TrafficMuhammad Rizwan Khan, comprising Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Inspector Muhammad Munir Ahmad, Muhammad Asif Nawaz and Ahmad Hassan intercepted a passenger and checked the invoices of the cellular phones and accessories. Both passengers  were seen coming with their luggage of hand carry bags loaded on trolly. Upon the doubtful movement of the said passengers namely Zaid iqbal Butt and Shakeel sultan. The Customs team asked the passenger to show receipt or invoices but they failed to provide any relevant documents.

During the checking the customs team found mobile set Samsung galaxy (21- nos), Samsung S3 ( 17 nos ), Samsung Galaxy S6 mobile LG Lite and having in different brands. The AFU seized mobile under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 under violation of section 2(s), read with SRO read with section 3(1), and (3), of the import and export Control act 1969.
