Faisalabad ASO confiscates 3,650 yards of smuggled cloths

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized 3,650 yards of foreign origin silk cloth dyed and printed worth Rs 203,280 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 30,000.

The ASO team, following the direction of Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary, intercepted a passenger bus bearing Registration No. BYU-001 near Motorway Chowk Sargodha Road, Faisalabad.

The ASO staff asked the driver, Munir Khan, to produce any documentary evidence showing the legal import and lawful possession of the items. But he could not produce any documents relating to its legal import. Therefore, the ASO team confiscated the smuggled cloth under Section 168 of Customs Act, 1969.

The ASO team comprising Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Muhammad Munir Ahmad, Muhammad Akram, Sepoy Afzal Hussain, Muhammad Ashrif, Muhammad Hayat, Muhammad Abdullah and Asrar Ahmed and others participated in the raid.
