Faisalabad ASO confiscates cloth, vehicle worth Rs 6.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated 8,550 kilograms of foreign origin curtain cloth worth Rs 4.799 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 988,673, besides impounding Mazda Truck worth Rs 1.8 million.

As per details, the smuggled cloth is seized under Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with section 3 (1) 3 of Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under section 156 (I) 89 (i) of the Custom Act, 1969.

The ASO team following instructions of Model Customs Collectorate Collector Zulafqar Ali Chaudhar conducted a raid near Motorway Chowk Sargodha Road, Faisalabad and intercepted a Mazda Truck bearing Registration No. LES0-14-585 and recovered curtain cloth.

The officials asked the driver to produce documents showing the legal possession and import of the cloth but he could not show any documents.

Therefore, the customs seized the cloth following the prevailing customs laws after making seizure report.

The ASO team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood, Deputy Superintendent Sardar Muhammad, Inspectors Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar and Sepoys Khalid Dogar, Zulifqar Ali Awan, Liaqat Ali Israr Ahmad and others conducted raid.
