FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized contraband items worth Rs 3.9 million during August 2016.
The ASO seized contraband items from different locations of Faisalabad City, including Chanab Nagar, Sargodha Road, Gattwala, Karkhana Bazar, Railway Colony and from other areas.
The items were seized on the information of Additional Collector (ADC), Muhammad Saeed Asad under the supervision of Deputy Collector (DC) Muhammad Rizwan Khan under the Customs section contravened of import and export control Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Custom Act 1969.
The ASO team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Ali Zahid, Khalid Ashraf Noor, Sepoys Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Ashraf, Liaqat Ali, And afzal Hussain participated in the raids Action.
The customs officials confiscated the items as the accused persons failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the items. Later, the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further.
As per the details in the seized items included Seven vehicles under Section (U/S 157), being used for Smuggling transportation worth Rs12 million and Four others non-duty paid vehicle under section (U/S 16 NDP), Worth Rs2.6 million, foreign origin Cloth 650-Kgs worth Rs 307970, Tyres and Tube (10-Nos), worth Rs 11666 and various other contraband items worth Rs24 million during August of fiscal year 2016-17.
