Faisalabad ASO impounds huge quantity of coriander seeds, Mazda loader

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized the contraband coriander seeds worth Rs990000 involving duties and taxes amounting to Rs367274 besides impounding a Mazda truck valued at Rs800000.

Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizawan received a tip-off that coriander seeds were being smuggled. He immediately constituted a team, which intercepted a Mazda truck with registration No: FDK-4422. The officials, while searching the vehicle, recovered 5,500 kilograms of foreign origin coriander seeds. The item was being transported from Quetta to Faisalabad and Lahore.

After recovering the item, the customs staff asked Driver Namely Imran Khan son of Gul Saeed Burga to produce the documents regarding the legal possession of the item but he failed to do so on which customs team impounded the item and vehicle under Section 157 (2) of Customs Act-1969.

The raiding staff comprised Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Faizi Raza, Muhammad Munir and Sepoys Afzaal Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Yasin and Muhammad Dilawar.
