FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated non-custom paid Toyota crown car bearing Registration No. LEF-13-9811 worth Rs 1.5 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 1.13 million.
Sources told Customs Today that after receiving information, Customs Collectorate Ch Zulafiqar Ali directed the ASO team to check the vehicle. Following the information, the ASO team comprising Superintendent Javed Mehmood, Deputy Superintendent Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Inspector Abdul Jabbar, Sepoy Khalid Dogar, Sepoy Zulfiqar Ali Awan and Sepoy Israr Ahmad raided near Narwala chowk and arrested Qamar Ullah, who is a resident of Model Town Lahore.
The ASO team asked the suspect to produce any evidence regarding the legal import of vehicle, but he failed to show any legal document. For that the ASO team seized the smuggled vehicle and submitted a report in the Adjudication Department for further investigation.
The smuggled Toyota vehicle was seized under section 16, 18 of the customs act 1969 section 3 of sales tax act 1990 read with section 3(1)3 of import and Export trade ( Control ) Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89(i) of the custom act 1969.
