Faisalabad ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hiace

FAISALABAD: The Anti -Smuggling  Organisation (ASO) Faisalabad has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Hiace van model 1992 bearing registration no. R.0457. The market value of the seized vehicle is Rs 800,000.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received information regarding the vehicle. The customs raiding team intercepted the vehicle near Khurrianwala Chowk Sheikhupura Lahore Road, Faisalabad.

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Waqas Karamat son of Karamat Ali, a resident of Nazimpura Dewana Singh Shahkot, to produce legal documents regarding the import of Toyota Hiace, but he failed to provide the same. The staff seized the van under section 187 of the Customs Act 1969. After his failure Customs authorities seized the vehicle . Further process is still under way until the filing of this report.
