Faisalabad ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 1.5 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 500,000.

As per details, ASO team following credible tip off received through Assistant Collector Umer Bin Zaffar Chattah conducted raid to hold the non-duty paid vehicle.

The ASO team comprising Inspector Anser Saleemi, Muhammad Umer Bhatti, Rana Muhammad Ashraf intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. MNC-4471 near Mankara city of Bhakkar district.

The ASO staff asked driver to produce any documentary evidence showing the legal import and lawful possession. But he could not produce any documents relating to its legal import or lawful on which customs impounded the vehicle under the prevailing customs law.

After a consider able passage of time no one appeared before the seizing agency to claim ownership of seized vehicle as well as no proof of its legal import/lawful possession was produced. After that customs sent the seizure report to adjudication.
