Faisalabad ASO impounds smuggled Mitsubishi Pajero V6

FAISALABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded a smuggled Mitsubishi Pajero V6 worth Rs 1.5 million.

Following the instruction of MCC Faisalabad Collector Tauseef Ahmad Qureshi, ASO team intercepted the vehicles near Jaranwala Road Faisalabad bearing Registration No.JSA-130. ASO team asked the driver named Khawaja Zafar Iqbal to produce any documentary evidence showing the legal/ lawful possession of the subject vehicle. He failed to produce any document on the spot and stated the he is not the owner of the vehicle.

He also informed that actual owner of the vehicle is Malik Noman Siddique and said that he will produced document of the vehicle within a day but he could not.

ASO seized the vehicle under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 for violation of the Section 2(s) read with SRO 566(I)/2005 dated 06-06-2005 Section 16,18 of the Customs Act, 1969 , Section 3 of the Sales Tax Act 1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with Section 3(1)3 of the Import & Export (Control) Act 1950, punishable under Section 156(I)89(i) of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(I)/2009 dated 13/06/2009 and relevant Customs Laws after completion of all the legal formalities and serving notice under Section 171 of the Customs Act, 1969 upon the driver of the subject vehicle.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Suprintendent Safder iqbal’ Inspector Amir Mumtaz Bajwa’ Inspector Tanveerul haq conducted the operation.
