Faisalabad ASO recovers huge quantity of smuggled goods in 3rd week of May

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered different types of goods worth Rs 5.9 million during third week of May.

Sources told  Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received secret information about some smuggling attempts . He formed different teams to curb smuggling. Superintendents Saeed Akhtar Joyia, Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Masood Saeed Chohan, Abdul Jabbar, Safdar Ali, Azhar Hussain Jaffri  (inspector), and Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali , Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys) comprised the ASO team.

The ASO team during various operations seized smuggled vehicles which were being used for transportation of smuggled goods and were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes. ASO staff also seized different types of cigarettes 700 (dandas) worth Rs 158760, and others different items worth Rs1219365. All these items were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

ASO authorities registered separate cases of smuggling against accused persons and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings.
