Faisalabad ASO recovers non-duty paid cigarettes

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of foreign origin Milano cigarettes worth Rs 400,000 during an action.

Sources told Customs Today that following information received through Additional Collector Saeed Asad that a huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes were being transported from Rawalpindi to Faisalabad through Golden bus bearing registration no. LES 16-2699. He immediately formed a ASO team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Mahmood Ahmad Dogar, Ali Zahid, Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Liaqat Ali and Muhammad Ashraf.

The ASO team intercepted the above mentioned vehicle near Motorway Interchange Sargodha Road and asked driver of the vehicle Zareen Khan to show documents regarding legal import and transportation of these goods. But he remained failed to show any relevant documents.

The ASO team seized all the cigarettes and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
