Faisalabad ASO recovers smuggled goods worth thousands of rupees

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized miscellaneous smuggled items worth Rs 312,975 involving customs duty of Rs 161,896.

According to details, ASO team following instructions of Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan conducted various raids in the region to curb smuggling activities.

During one raid, which was conducted near Shahpur Sargodha Joharabad Road, the ASO team arrested one smuggler who was identified as Tariq Mahmood Latif son of Muhammad Latif. The ASO team seized foreign origin tyres, Panasonic TVs, four cylinder petrol engine, gear box LTV Pine cigarettes Milano King filter cigarettes from his possession.

The ASO team seized the contraband goods under section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with section 3 (1) 3 of Import and Export Control Act 1950.
