Faisalabad ASO seizes items worth Rs 3.4m in 7 days

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), while foiling various smuggling attempts, has confiscated contraband items worth Rs 3.478 million during the last seven days of April.

Following the directions of Faisalabad Customs Collector Dr Zulfiqar Ali, Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, Superintendent Muhammad Saeed Joyia, Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Safdar Ali, Muhammad Jabbar, sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah conducted raids to curb smuggling in the region.

The ASO impounded an offender vehicle worth Rs 500,000 and three non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 1.51 million during the raids. Smuggled items, auto parts worth Rs 236,250, pan parag zafrani worth Rs 95,600, guttka worth Rs 219,675 and other items worth Rs 917,160. All these items were brought into country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Faisalabad ASO seized items under Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 (i) 90 of the Custom Act, 1969.
