Faisalabad ASO seizes items worth Rs8.23m  in first week of August

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization ( ASO ), Faisalabad conducted various operations against smugglers on the special instructions by Additional Collector Saeed Asad and recovered smuggled goods worth Rs 82,028,03 during first week of August.

Sources told to Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan constituted a team to curb smuggling. The ASO team consisted Saeed Akhtar Joiya (superintendent), Masood Saeed Chohan and Safdar Ali (inspectors), Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys) seized two non-duty paid and tempered vehicles worth Rs 11,75,000. These vehicles were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Sources said that impounded vehicle was being used for smuggling and  transportation of smuggled goods. ASO authorities also recovered foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs 79380 and also seized other items Worth Rs 948423 during the said period.

Faisalabad ASO seized items and vehicle a under section of Import and Export Control Act. 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forward the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
