DG Valuation revises customs value of almond through Valuation Ruling 1037/2017

Faisalabad ASO seizes non duty paid almonds, Bedford truck

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) on Wednesday seized 5670 kilograms of foreign origin almonds USA brand along with carrier vehicle Bedford truck involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 1389760.

Sources told Customs Today, that an ASO team impounded a Bedford truck bearing registration no C-8522 model 1965 near Jhang Road and recovered foreign origin almonds hard 5670 kilograms packed in cartons. The officials asked the accused named Muhammad Rafique son of Muhammad Aslam to show documents regarding its legal import, but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

After his failure customs authorities seized the truck loaded with almonds according customs Section 168 of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 90 (i) of the Customs Act 1969.

The ASO team comprising Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Farhan Frank, Shah Nawaz, Irfan Faheem and other were part of the raiding team. Customs ASO forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
