Multan RTO collects Rs1.97b under tax amnesty scheme

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office collected Rs.1.97 billion under the tax amnesty scheme.

Sources told Customs Today, that tax amnesty scheme received decent response from people who has undeclared assets in the country and foreign. Almost 1756 individuals file tax returns under tax amnesty scheme to legalize their assets.

Substantial amount of Rs.1.97 billion have been collected by Regional Tax Office through tax amnesty scheme introduced by former Pakistan Muslim League (N) government to bring large number of individuals in the tax base.

Tax authorities also organized different seminars in the business community along with general public for awareness to bring them into tax net and large number of individuals declared their assets after announcement of tax scheme.

It is pertinent to mention here that tax scheme was launched with a purpose to declare domestic and foreign assets of individuals under this scheme and tax authorities accomplished attain their goals to certain level.
